Robert Goossens was originally a master designer of haute couture jewelry for Chanel and YSL, known for his ability to incorporate Byzantine style, gem setting, and metalwork into his designs. In the 1980s and 1990s, he designed many powder compacts and makeup containers for YSL, making cosmetics themselves like wearable jewelry.
